The arid Atacama Desert, which covers much of northern Chile, will be the privileged stage for the competitors of the fifth date of the FIM Cross Country Rally World Championship, the only appointment in Latin America and the third date of the South American Championship of the discipline CODASUR-FIA
An exceptional scenery will have the competitors of Atacama Rally 2015, mainly because 80% of its routes will develop in the arid Atacama Desert. A natural place that has Chile, mixing variety of routes between dunes, sandy, rocky zones, and high navigation.
In September, the Atacama region will be the epicenter of the World Cross Country Rally, with 3 of his 5 competitive stages and where the best riders in the world, together a new riders of the discipline will be present for by struggle of important points in the last but one round of the FIM World Championship and the South American championship CODASUR-FIA
The third stage will be the hardest, with a highly navigation and technical route, which will take place in the dunes with a Loup system with over 350 kilometers of special competitive. The seas of dunes, low, medium and high and the great dune of Medanoso are already prepared to challenge of competitors in the 2015 edition of the Atacama Rally.
In the next few days, the reco team will end the route and the organization will make the final decision whether to continue towards the Antofagasta Region or stay in Atacama, due to connectivity issues in the main route that could affect to the assistance teams and movement of the organization.
“We have every intention to get to Antofagasta, but the highway connection today is somewhat complex for assistance teams and the organization itself. We are evaluating all alternatives and within next week we will take the final decision. The competitive section has no problem, but also we must think about the assistance teams arrive early at the Bivouac to do their jobs. If we decide not to go to Antofagasta, the rally will stay in Atacama or will come back to La Serena with two wonderful and exciting final stages".
